"Season's Greetings"
December 21, 2001
Merry Christmas.
That's Christmas, as in Christ.
Jesus Christ. The politically-incorrect holiday that celebrates the
birth of he who so many consider to be the Messiah.
This is not to be confused with that
2-1/2% holiday that celebrates the slaughter of thousands. Nor is it
that bogus claptrap devised by an excon in the Sixties for his personal
enrichment.
I hope you have a traditional
American Christmas. Tell your kids' teachers. Put it back in the
schools and all government buildings. Be as obnoxiously cheerful about
it as those who have so cheerlessly and relentlessly removed it from
every public venue.
Things were a bit too hectic around
here for me to ever get in the mood to put together and mail one of my
homemade Christmas cards this year.
Besides, it's an Internet kind of
world now. I love that I can annoy so many with so little effort.
So, this year I borrow the humor of
another, since it is in line with my own:
Really, have a great one. With
kids and presents and a tree and snow and stuff.
I keep my pickup bed loaded with
snow all winter long, ready to deliver at a moment's notice. Not sure it
would last all the way to your house, though.
Here's the view from our front porch
a couple of days ago....

It's a tough life out here, but
somebody has to rough it and keep the frontier open for the rest, after
all.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
